I have a 2000 Ford Excursion 7.3L Diesel Powerstroke for sale.
I talked to an old diesel mechanic (working on diesels only since the 80’s) tell me that I have no worries with this engine even at 320,356. As with an old Powerstroke there are oil leaks, but just a small drip. If you know anything about these, they are sought after and can last forever. I pulled an old 30 foot travel trailer with it for 3 years for a ministry in our church. I have pulled that said trailer through the mountains in Colorado. Just gear down, slow to 60ish MPH, and let it pull you up. We have been off road a couple of times, and it was fun (without the camper of course). This vehicle is quite spacious. The rear seats fold down, and you can fit a 4 x 8 sheet of OSB, Plywood, or drywall laying down. One such excursion (pun intended) was to the Notch near Durango, CO and we went to 12000 feet. Figures I have seen are that 14% of Excursion produced had a 7.3 liter diesel, and even less in 4WD. This was originally a V10, but the previous owner swapped the V10 from this vehicle with a 7.3 liter from another Excursion…he did the work for us. For this reason, the VIN number shows a V10 and the title EXEMPT from odometer disclosure and put the odometer date back to 2/14/2001.
Cruise Control, Tilt Wheel, Power Windows, Doors, Seats, Rear Defroster, A/C, 4WD Low and High w/manual locking front wheels, and an after market Kenwood dash unit (Wireless CarPlay for Android or iPhone), and extendable tow mirrors.
It has heated mirrors and seats, but the heated seats don’t work, and I replaced the driver mirror with a nonheating glass (you could put a heated glass in). The big window in the back open and close, but one of them needs a motor.
I really don’t want to sell this, but I travel for ministry and just recently got a motor home instead of a travel trailer. So, I will need a smaller vehicle to tow behind the motor home and an Excursion is just too big for that. This vehicle has potential. Look at the prices they are selling for restored. I would do it, but I am in ministry and have no time to do it.
The interior is in fair condition no rips or tears in the rear. Front passenger seat has no holes, but one of the seams are coming out. The driver seat back is coming apart. All the seat are worn. The third row seat didn’t come with the truck when I bought it, but I know where to get a grey one if it is a deal breaker. The carpet has some stains, mostly light, but there is a blue ink stain where the floor board would be for the third row seat. The vehicle has a Hydra programmer installed, and although I have never tried, I think you can download an app for your computer to plug it in and program custom settings via USB. The frame has surface rust which are shown in the pictures, but no holes or thin spot but rather pretty solid. I just washed it, so some of the frame pictures have water dripping. The only rust on the body is the little bit on the rim on the wheel well in front of the rear wheel well (see picture) and I have had this vehicle for three years and I haven’t seen it grow. Normally these have a plastic skirt/cladding around the bottom, but the previous owner removed them and painted it with a matte black substance…with the rust not growing, I think it maybe some type of rust inhibitor or rust proofing, but I am not sure. The red paint has some fading and some of the clear coat peeling. The only damage is that in the driver rear corner there is a smaller dent and some scrapes. When I bought this vehicle, the rims were mismatched so I bought these Moto Metal rims used. They are 17” rims and they look good at a distance. The previous owner of the rims sugges Plastidrip to coat the rims, or you could sand and paint them a custom color. When parked, it seems like the steering is tight, but works great once you start moving. The A/C works great while moving, but gets warm at idle. We have drove a lot down in Oklahoma, Kansas, Florida, etc. and the A/C works well even in those climates. The heater works well too. The previous owner installed a 2” lift kit. We have been off road a couple of times, and it was fun.
When the muffler was installed, I had the mechanic add a wye before the muffler as an exhaust dump for more power and better gas mileage, but it is currently blocked. You could remove the block off and put a switch in to open and close it if you want to (the block was supposed to be an aftermarket dump valve, but I didn’t know that you had to find your own controller and I never did. Included in the purchase is the three bottles of diesel treatment in the pictures.
Everything is in the pictures. For it's age it's in the condition that you would expect. It isn't brand new and has dings, scratches, stains, etc. I have tried to share everything I know, but if you have questions, message me. If you want specific photos that I don't have, ask me. I have more, but eBay wouldn’t allow me to post that many.
Thank you for looking.
Here is what I put in it:
2 Front Tires in January
- 1 Rear Driver Tire last week (Rear Passenger tire looks good…maybe half tread.
Tires are All Terrain tires. I HAVE ALL THE CERTIFICATES FROM DISCOUNT TIRE, and there is warranty left on all the tires. The Rear Passenger tire is almost out of warranty.
- Front end 4WD seals and stub shaft kit with the associated Ujoints replaced (see picture with the kit) in April
New wheel bearing assembly on the passenger side. I drove the vehicle too long with the needle bearing bad (in the kit above), and the needle bearing race was damaged so the only option was to replace the entire wheel bearing.
New brake calipers and pads (all four wheels) August
New front brake rotors recently
Two new batteries in May
New Fuel filter
Changed the oil and filter
New radiator November 2025
New front leaf springs in 2024 (I installed a heavier duty set of springs than original)
Front alignment done when leaf springs were replaced.
New power steering lines except pump to gearbox in 2025
Rebuilt power steering pump in 2025
New water pump August 2024
Transmission filter and fluid at some point in the last couple of years. I use Amsoil and it is still red and clean looking

New alternator in 2023
New door lights on the front doors with LED assemblies recently
